April 17 Plane Crazy Saturday at Mojave Airport

Al Hansen Collection Mojave Airport Historical Aircraft Display Day sponsored by Mojave Transportation Museum, Foundation - Plane Crazy Saturday held every 3rd Saturday at Mojave Air & Spaceport, in front of Voyager Restaurant, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.!

JoAnn Painter’s pristine 1949 Cessna 140A is Aircraft of the Month! Fly in and display your aircraft or drive in and enjoy visiting with people who speak aviation! Walk in traffic enter through Voyager Restaurant. Bring your camera, take lots of photos and visit with some of Mojave Airport's famous pilots! Aerospace-oriented art, collectibles and other aviation memorabilia will be on sale. Vintage aircraft, jets & rocket planes on display, all free for public viewing! Bring the kids, ride the tram and tour XCOR Aerospace! Great Restaurant on the flightline named after famous Voyager Aircraft flown around the world by Board Member Dick Rutan & Jeana Yeager! Catch up with board members Dick Rutan, and Cathy and Al Hansen at Mojave Airport's Plane Crazy Saturdays!

Aviator of the Month was Michael Dorn, A.K.A. Worf from Star Trek, was in person March 20, 2010! Michael Dorn is a pilot and serves on the advisory board of the Air Force Aviation Heritage Foundation. Mr. Dorn has owned an F-86 Sabre, T-33 Shooting Star and a Sabreliner.

Plane Crazy Saturdays take place from 10am to 2pm at the Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, CA every third Saturday of the month. Ground traffic enter through the Voyager Restaurant, which will be open for breakfast and lunch! Weather permitting, airport tours will be given aboard our open air tram cars.

Bob Byrd Breyer will speak on his grandfather Admiral Richard E. Byrd and the Byrd Aircraft Recovery Expedition. Robert Byrd Breyer is the son of Katharine Byrd Breyer, second oldest daughter of Admiral Richard E. Byrd. As the second oldest of 13 Byrd grandkids Bob was old enough to get to know his grandfather before the Admiral died in 1957. Because of his relationship with his grandfather Bob has served as the family historian of Admiral Byrd.
